At this moment I am thrilled to announce that about 20 minutes ago my thoughtful cousin Tonya picked me up a copy of Julie and Julia by Julie Powell. The reason I am so thrilled about this is because I adore the movie Julie and Julia. It has inspired me in so many ways. Also to add this will be the first book that I will fully read on my own. I have always read in groups at school or just little bits out of other books and magazines. I figure that I should be able to read this because I just love the movie and maybe it will help me to read the book and follow it a bit better. Although the book that I have came out before the movie but I still imagine they will be similar. Also I would like to add that I am going to make it my mission to read this book just like Julie from the movie made it her mission to complete Julia Child's cook book

I am about to go to school but I was to excited to tell whom ever that I read the whole first chapter before going to bed last night. I also think I am a bit over tired today because I believe I only had 2 hours sleep. Besides the fact of no sleep I am so excited to read some more. Can you believe it the non-reader actually likes reading this one book Julie & Julia so far. I found it so cool that in the first chapter they introduced the Potato soup recipe. Today after school I decided that I am going to stop in the grocery store and by the two ingredients needed. Then I will make my way home carrying the back of groceries in one hand and school books in the other. Most likely I will miss the bus like Julie in the first chapter and have to walk a block or two. Okay I will leave you know how this goes.

Got the potato and leeks on my way home from school. You wont believe how hard it was to find them leeks. They look like huge green onions and smell like them to. Hopefully they arnt huge green onions. Well I got home about a half an hour ago. Took out the recipe and started, it took me the total 15 minutes prep time just to chop the 1lb of potato's plus i added a couple extra. Might I add i broke out in a sweat at one point. Then i thinly chopped three cups of leeks and added 4 carrots to the soup. I did not have the correct measurments for the 2 qwarts of water so i guessed. After adding the vegtables and salt to the water I cleaned up my huge mess and now i am waiting for it to simmer for 45 minutes.

Well I have to admit Julia Child's recipe for Potato and Leek soup rocks. It was delicous, everyone that I invited over for supper really enjoyed it. They all even had second and even thirds. To top it all off they want me to make a whole bunch of it so they can freeze it for when ever they want it. How asome is that!. No really it was so perfect in taste, the butter really does top it off. Well now that I am stuffed and satisfied I think I will go read some more then do some math homework.
